Superbike School at Laguna Seca
As some of you already know, I attended California Super Bike School's 2 day camp at Laguna Seca this past Tuesday and Wednesday. The day was set to start at 7am with breakfast followed by some classroom time and then it was time for our first on track session. Going down the Corkscrew for the first time is not something I will soon forget. I was giggling like an idiot under my helmet.
Four or five laps into the first session, I came into turn 3, taking it easy, and decided to lean the bike over just a bit more while powering through the corner. Bad idea. Lost the front and went for a nice slide across the pavement. Luckily it was a very easy fall with no real damage to the bike or myself. The rest of the day went well. That night I came down with some sort of stomach bug and wasn't sure I would even be able to ride the next day, especially considering I had to drive back to LA Wednesday night to be at work early Thursday. Luckily, I was feeling well enough to make it through the second day.
It took me a good day and a half to really get the flow of the track and finally string together some decent laps. The BMW is a great bike. The first day I was not very impressed with it, but as time wore on, I became much more comfortable. The brakes needed some adjustment and that helped build my confidence in the bike as well. As for the power, all I can say is WOW! That thing is fast. It will try to lift the nose at every opportunity. Wouldn't mind owning one in the motorsport colors.
Anyways, overall, I had a great time despite the minor issues, and really hope I can get back to Laguna soon on my own bike. Also looking forward to doing Level 4 of Superbike School at Streets of Willow.
Here are a few pics.

Finally got around to uploading one of my videos. Unfortunately the camera was pointing a bit too low so you don't get to see as much of the track ahead as I would have liked.
