I've seen similar incidents with conventional swingarms in which the wheel jammed up at an angle within the swingarm and resulted in a pretty violent launch of the rider. Not as much an issue at that speed, but still.

Wow, just wow. Looks as though 2 of those spokes on the hoop are torqued to a different degree than the others, or the other way around. Either way it looks a bit odd. May be a clue to why it sheared off. Certainly can't be good for OZ. Matter of fact they've had several wheel issues with OEM rims they made...Aprilia comes to mind.

That my friends is one of the biggest fears that I have when it comes to bikes of those types. He was a lucky bugger alright.
