1st Duc and Diavel ride... (pic heavy)

Nice recovery, the urge to poke fun about the noises and power...
The "involvement" required to ride a Duc is what I love about Duc's. Which is also why you'll love the bike considering your four wheel cage. You have to be present to play!
You've already picked up on why owning a Duc (or an Aprilia...)is so much more engrossing than just having a bike. It has character.
My 998 was a torture wrack to ride, but while you're on it; there is nothing like it. Which is why I can't wait to get my hands on one of these. And until that day... I think that we need to put a picture and video quota on you... Just sayin...

Just the road made me go "ooooh ... yes please!".

I don't know about the Diavel specifically, but most Ducs are actually geared way high to go through emissions. A common and very efficient mod is to drop one tooth on the front sprocket.
A guy I ride with (Streetfighter) also has had the injectors balanced with great results.
I'm not sure where the Diavel ranks in terms of jutterness, but I rode the 1198, Multi, 848 and 1098 ... and the 1098 is by far the worst of the bunch. It's hilarious how angry the bike gets at you as soon as you begin being lazy.

Ducs sure are a special breed. When I was shopping around, every owner warned me before starting it up "you know, Ducatis make a lot of weird noises, because of the clutch and all, it's normal".

Only experiencing the judder. No snatching. The throttle response is actually very smooth but still very responsive.

No matter what, you're going to love how this things delivers power.
My 998 was the first bike that ever "scared" me. I've always respected my bikes, but none ever scared me with how they laid down the power. My 998 came home from the shop with Termi's, and right at 1k miles, on the break in I was on a gorgeous sweeper interstate ramp. I jerked it and it was enough to pull my left hand off the left grip. Wake up call.
These things, one you are used to massaging that power band can be so user friendly, but able to turn into a rabid lion that just got surprise buttsexz with the flick of a wrist.
There is no turning back for you!
I can only imagine this engine since I haven't ridden one yet. But it has to be intoxicating.
