Post pics of your bike...

That black frame gave me quite an interesting couple of weeks, apparently no one told whoever did it that you shouldn't sand blast the VIN. I had already bought it when I discovered the missing VIN and I contacted the RCMP, it turned out not to be a stolen bike, but it sure freaked me out.
Life lesson: Inspect the VIN of any vehicle you buy.

Thanks SAB, the pipes are Sil Motor, they came on the bike when I got it. I like the sound the bike produces quite a bit. I never did get around to putting pipes on either of my Yamahas, I had a Yoshimura on my CBR and I wasn't overly impressed, but back then I was young and just wanted it to be loud, I didn't care if it sounded good.
Is your Yamaha stock?

The Yam is under the knife this winter..she's getting a full Arrow exhaust and a braced swing arm. Other than that I just have the regular mods...Vortex rearsets, Pazzo levers, GC mirror block offs, integrated lights, PCIII, etc....

Are you dyno tuning the power commander yourself? I've never really modified a bike, just cars, I always wondered if people with power commanders used wideband 02 sensors and dynos to properly tune their bikes or if they were just switching to a preprogrammed fuel/timing map provided by someone else. I guess different people do different things, but I'd have to assume that 90% of the guys with power commanders haven't properly tuned the bike. Not saying this is you of course, it's just something that I'm curious about.
Using a preprogrammed map never made sense to me, I've heard of lots of people doing it, two vehicles are not the same, and especially for different cities and elevation changes it seems dangerous.

You're absolutely correct. The pre-programmed maps that you can download from Dyno-Jet are trash. Most of them are safe to run though. They are just way to rich for any real gains.
I had the bike dyno-tuned with my previous exhaust setup and will do it again once the Arrow pipes are on. I'm more concerned about an accurate air/fuel ratio than BHP. I noticed a huge change in throttle response and power delivery. R1's are notorious for a power dip at 6k from the factory. This was completely remedied after the tune.

That's good that you are doing it right. I don't know what year your R1 is, but with my 2007 it had a really bad problem in second gear at 5500rpm, it would bog for a couple seconds, it's a known problem with the 2007 model but I never got around to getting the ECU replaced. I had quite the fight with the service department at our local Yamaha stealership, they were completely lying to me about the tech recall, good thing I had done my homework first.

The maps on the dynojet site are maps that other people uploaded. I don't know how they get them but I don't think they screen or test them. Somehow the custom map I got made ended up on their site for download.

You're at ~750 FT elevation and I'm at 3500 FT, just that difference would make your map useless for me, then you have the fact that even if I owned the same year/model bike as you our engines would be fairly different. Well I'll stop beating the dead horse.
