Brammo announces the Empulse - a trio of electric motorcycles capable of 100mph
#21
i never dodged anything, you are again referring to this particular bike when i am referring to the concept in general (i highlighted your own words in the hopes that you will finally understand this). don't get hung up, i am not saying anyone should buy this bike, i agree that it would be silly to do so when you compare it to bikes in that price range. what i am saying is the technology is in its infancy, it has the potential to work if developed. i am again stating that with further development this could become viable in commuter specific applications. the reason electric is developing is simply that it is required. in china many jurisdictions (such as Shanghai) have banned gas powered motorcycles and scooters for several years already. that, coupled with their electric car development, is why i think they will be the ones to advance this technology. in china electric bikes sell for $250 so they can be cheap and effective.
Congrats! You sucked me into it. You win one free internet! Please pick it up at the door on the way out.

i do love turtles. fyi, if one is crossing the road in the middle of the night and you pick it up to move it to the golf course it will piss all over you...ask me how i know.

As with 100% electric cars, they're already here. And as with 100% electric cars, until someone makes a breakthrough in battery technology, they're completely useless and very expensive.
Let us not forget where the magic juice that comes out of the socket originates from.
Is it "cool"? Sure. Is it practical, usable or in any way cost effective? No.
no fuel dependency

If you mean that this could be the precursor to cheaper and cheaper models that will eventually alleviate pollution in india, china, mexico, etc.... you stated it in a roundabout way that no one else reading it got based on the responses in the rest of the thread. No need for a fight.

FWIW I had the exact same initial impression about the originally posted bike. When you can buy an off the rack $11k bike that does 0-60 in the low 3 second range, top speed of 150+, corners on rails, 400 lbs wet weigh that gets 40 mpg and you're coming up with an electric bike you're marketing as sporty...... You better come with something off the charts incredible either in performance or economy or both. Instead of neither.
