I'm thinking about selling my 2 '06 R1 LEs in favor of a 2009 1098R Bayliss. I never really cared for the Bayliss livery until I started messing around with different wheel colors. Seeing it with some different wheels has really made me love the way it looks. From the factory it comes with black wheels and looks like this:



Here are a few different options I quickly made in photoshop:








What do you guys think? Is it worth getting rid of 2 Limited Edition R1s for the Bayliss? And what color wheels look good? Here are my R1s for reference:

 

I know nothing about bikes but I love it, especially with the white wheels.....
Do it, if you don't like it, sell it and get one of the R1's back, drive that for a while and then grab the next LE that comes from Yamaha.

 

Thanks Felix. I have not doubt that I will love the 1098R. I just have a hard time letting go of the Yamahas since I told myself I would never sell either, even if I quit riding.

White wheels fo sho. What a winner. Kind of has a retro Honda RC30 look, which is probably my favorite bike if all time. Love it! I say make the change. It's an incredible bike.

 

Even though the Duc sound is addicting, those Yami's are both awfully nice. I'm a "take your pick today" kinda guy, so I say stay with what you have.

Will that Ducatti give you anything more than the R1's won't on the track? Does it reward your abilities better? If not, pass on it.

 

For right now, it is probably out of the question, especially considering the Ducatis price tag.

White wheels are definitely my favorite option. I'm an RC30 lover as well. Wish I could find a clean example at a decent price. I passed up an opportunity to buy one from a buddy in ~06 for 14k. Still regret not buying it.

I usually enjoy the variety as well, but lately I just don't have enough time to go to the track and enjoy the track bike. I rarely even get to ride anymore, so I figured having one bike that's as good as the 1098R could cover both street and track duty for the time being. My blue R1 is probably a better set-up track bike than the Ducati, but it's now 3 years old and i'm itching for something new. The Ducati does have a really sweet traction control system though. I guess I have to figure out how much I would get for the R1s first, to see if it makes financial sense.

 

I would stick with the R1's looks like you got one setup for track....

The 1098 is a Sick Bike... But its only 1 bike vs. 2, and the novelty will wear off eventually. Why not go with the 1198??

 

Do a quick google search of the 1098R. The 1198 is a lesser version of the 1098R.
