lol now that you mention it, they are a direct copy and paste from the 350Z. Can't believe I didn't pick up on that.
Then who ever rendered this must ahve cut and pasted the taillights of the Camaro while they we at it.

The "Camaro tail lights" complaint has been done to death, and is barely even valid. Both the shape and the angle of the C7 tail lights are different from the Camaro. The Corvette Forum alone probably has several dozen different threads railing against them(though the site mods seem to be quick in locking/deleting them). Same as people railed against fixed headlights in the C6.
What's the big deal about the tail lights anyway? Beyond "tradition", so what? Some seem to be walking around with their noses in the air, complaining about the 'Vette sharing styling cues with a lesser model(like no other manufacturer does it)...And? I don't recall any 'Vette guys complaining back when the Cobalt had round quad tail lights.
As for the people here talking about "plastic", I wouldn't be too sure of that. According to Car & Driver, the C7's body panels will all be made of carbon fiber, which will also appear in the interior(REAL CF this time). Personally, I'll believe it when I see it. With all the new tech that they're putting in the C7, I'm not so sure they'll be able to make the body completely out of CF and still keep it in the $50-55k range to start. Then again, GM started working with Teijin Limited, a company specializing in carbon fiber composites, near the end of 2011, so they might be able to do an all-CF body relatively cheaply. Again, believe it when I see it.

Let me revise my complaint.
That car is ugly. Especially the tail lights which look like camaro tail lights and are ugly on that car too. Chevy can do way better, and IMO did better on the current model year. Therefore, IMO, they are moving backwards.
If it seems to be a common complaint, then obviously it's public opinion that the tail lights are ugly.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as the saying goes. Most people think Ferraris and Aston Martins are styling paradigms; artwork on wheels. Personally, I think all modern F-cars and Astons look like mutant catfish from the front. Everyone's got an opinion, and some people change their minds more often than they change their underwear. I recall when the Pagani Huayra was first revealed, people hated it, especially the front end. From the head-on pictures, it looked like some kind of strange insect, or one of those alien-looking fish you'd see at the bottom of an ocean trench. But now? Everyone's creaming their jeans over it. So I wouldn't put too much stock in initial public opinion.
Plus, this'll probably be a car that looks better in the flesh. A lot of these renders are at weird angles that make it look out of proportion. Meh, we'll find out in Detroit. But I do expect the C7 to be a hot seller regardless. If people really hate the tail lights that much, the aftermarket can take care of the problem quite easily. And if demand is high enough, GM might do it themselves in the C7's second model year.
