2013 Ford Shelby GT500 Debuts as Most Powerful Production V8 in the World

I have to agree the Z06 and 500 are very different. The 500 to me is much more grand tourer and the Z06 is a track weapon. I always root for Team Corvette in ALMS and international endurance races. I was a fvcking hardcore Corvette guy for a long time but I would drive this over a Z06 because GM has disappointed me with the interior every year, and their culture makes me sick. It's really sad. My dad had a 67 GT500 with a 427 (along with a few vintage Vettes) when I was little, so I've always loved Shelbys. If the Z had a cleaner interior and Caravaggio seats my opinion would change.
If it gets over 55k I am out. So many things I'd rather have at that price point, and I could probably wait a bit longer and get something even cooler.

I will wrap mine GB for you AND sign the dash all for the low low price of a new GT3
.RFFG is right. They only consider cars that meet certain production limits..

It's scary when modified, I've driven a 2.9L Whipple S/C Shelby GT500 with Bassani's (681rwhp) and everything else feels slow after that car.

No question. The interior keeps them out of the running with the greats in my opinion.

So... silly question. Everyone raves about the Boss 302 handling. The Boss/GT500 distinction seems very similar to the GT3/Turbo discussions in terms of acceleration and cruising versus handling and track performance.
Why wouldn't you throw a supercharger on a 302, and have the best of both worlds? I get how turbos ruin the responsiveness and sound of an engine, but superchargers don't affect the exhaust sound to the same degree, and lag is much less of an issue. You might lose a bit of the high-end free-revving sizzle of the N/A Boss motor, but you'd pick up GT500 acceleration, and handling that you couldn't replicate in a GT500.

) The GT3 is a purist car. The Turbo is the faster car. I'm sure any car guy would give up the power for the far superior handling. The Shelby is great but the BOSS was track-tuned making it the better car in my book. GT3 and BOSS for me. Just my opinion. Last edited by 65°V12; Nov 18, 2011 at 12:37 PM.

^^ that would be redundant, and if you had a Boss and a GT3, you'd be crazy to spend any time in the Boss, no?
I consider myself a car guy and I'll take the Turbo every day over the GT3.. Why? Speed, baby. < 500hp ain't cutting it anymore, and I don't live anywhere near a track, and I want a cab so I can tan my head....
If I lived near a track, I'd track my Z06 and (still) wouldn't give two sh*ts about the interior.

You're not the only one with that question though...

That being said, whenever I step out of the GT3 and get back into the Boss I can't help but crack a huge smile. The old sayin' 'there's no replacement for displacement' certainly rings true when you stab the throttle on the Boss in 2nd gear at 2k RPM's and the rear tires light up. Can't do that in the GT3. I think Alex will agree here as well. He drove the Boss and rode with me in the GT3. Coming out of the same corners at the same speed in the same gear the Boss was a completely different animal.
Cliffs: I want both
!

Yeah, now all Alex can talk about is 'Boss' this and 'Boss' that.
FKNA, what did you do to him?
My neighbor has a Boss.. I'll have to snag a drive (though, he'll want a reciprocal key toss to the FGT and I'm not sure he'd ever be the same).
LOL
