My Zebra stripes are on the way, output should be north of 600HP.

Did they mention handling in there? Stuff getting handed down from the corvettes?

 

My local Chevy Dealer says they will get 2 the 2nd week of February 2012. Unknown on color yet. Fingers crossed for black.

 

For sheer power, the ZL1 delivers more horsepower than a Ferrari 458, more torque than an Aston Martin DB9 V12, and a better power-to-weight ratio than a Porsche 911 Carrera GTS.

I'm not a fan of the looks of the new camaro, but the performance on this thing is going to be awesome (and the price point will probably be reasonable too).

 

I'd rather spend 3 times as much for the same performance too...

I don't care how much power the damn thing has, a 4200 lb 'sports car' is unacceptable IMO.

 

It is actually the SS is about 3870lbs so maybe 100lbs more. Yes, still overweight imo, but then again a Ferrari 458 is almost 3500lbs. So not bad for a 580hp, all steel $50,000 car. I bet that AMG is well over 4200lbs, so your weight argument is null anyways.
Even with all the weight the Camaros outhandle their lightweight rivals (370Z, Genesis Coupe, etc).

 

Thats the reason why they sell it for 50k and not 300k. By doing that they admit that they aren't as good, it's not a good thing, but not a bad thing either.

And 580hp is a lot and for that money.

 

I never said anything about an AMG? I wouldn't buy a 4000 lb Merc 'sports car' either. And FYI the C63 AMG is under 3700 lbs.

Agreed on all counts. Ton of power for the money. All I'm saying is that I personally wouldn't want that heavy of a sports car. I'll take a bit less power if it comes in a little lighter.

Just comes down to personal opinion. ZL1 is a hell of a car no doubt, especially considering the price tag and power, just not my cup of tea.
