Yeh, you're correct. Right behind the plate there is a big hole and the engine bay on the FGT gets very hot. He probably thought poking some holes will help with the air circulation so it can exit out the back instead of getting blocked off behind the plate. Interesting idea to poke holes though. Lol

Do they make an aftermarket aluminum one? Or some other material?

Yep they do. Either alu or CF. They're gorgeous too.

I changed out my exhaust to some Heffner pipes really early, and they don't "trap" the heat like the OEM box did, so I actually haven't had any warpage issues yet. I've been deciding if I should order a set anyway, just in case, or hold off a little longer. I like the Aluminum ones, and I can paint them to match, but the CF looks so great, so I'd like to see how others say those do and maybe get them instead. Tecnocraft looks like they're doing an entire CF program for the GT, they've got some really great bits already, so I'm waiting to see what else they come up with too.

This is what the custom ones look like. The alu "stock" look looks exactly stock. All can be painted.

Every domestic exec should spend a week in a garage with a GT; strapped to a chair, with their eyelids pinned open.
