For the money, they are damn quick and fun to drive. I had a chance at a six-speed CTS-V and I couldn't get over it.

When the Z/28 came out it emphasized weight reduction and not horsepower bumps. The Z/28 was considered to be "race ready" because of this weight reduction. The power plant in the Z/28 was much smaller (302 to the SS's 350). When the ZL1 came out it it was the baddest thing GM had ever produced and was a monster. It had an all-aluminum 427 big block and was built for one purpose - drag racing. The car was listed at having 430 HP but later reports stated it made well over 550 HP. I remember reading it took over 15 hours to hand-build one engine in a surgically inspired room. This is why I believe Chevy is using the ZL1 over the Z/28 nameplate. I still think the Z/28 will eventually come out. I would love to see a LS7 in a Camaro that weighs 3200-3300 LBS. Anyway though this car is FEROCIOUS! Way to go Chevy!

dilution of the ZL1 name imo.
i got an SS rental from the airport once because they were out of my category, it was God awful. the worst part was prior to dropping it off i did a couple light donuts/burnouts on request and the power steering failed & brembos were cooked (i believe even with TC deactivated it isnt totally gone)
