Post Yeee-haaaawww: Kentucky finally christens Corvette as Official State Sports Car

Corvette Roars as Official State Sports Car of Kentucky

Governor Conducts Ceremonial Signing of House Bill 104 at Bowling Green Assembly Plant

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Lots of states have official flowers and official birds. Texas has official footwear. Vermont has an official flavor. And several states have official muffins. Kentucky now has an official state sports car – the Chevrolet Corvette.

Governor Steve Beshear performed a ceremonial signing of House Bill 104 at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant on Tuesday. He signed the official bill on April 26.

"As home to the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Kentuckians have long considered the Corvette to be Kentucky's sports car and a great symbol of Kentucky pride and craftsmanship,""Beshear said. "House Bill 104, which was passed during the 2010 General Assembly, now makes that designation official. It was with great pleasure that I signed HB 104 into law."

Bowling Green is home to both the General Motors Corvette Assembly Plant (the only place in the world Chevrolet Corvettes have been manufactured since 1981) and the National Corvette Museum, a non-profit foundation with a mission of celebrating the invention of the Corvette and preserving its past, present and future since 1994.

"This signing is particular important because the event is being held at the Corvette Plant – the only place in the world where Corvettes are built. I think it is important that the community comes together to celebrate the now Official Sports Car of Kentucky and America's favorite sports car," said Rep. Jody Richards, D-Bowling Green, who was the primary sponsor of HB 104.

"This workforce uses precision and craftsmanship to build each and every Corvette, and they have been doing so in Kentucky for 29 years," said GM Bowling Green Assembly Plant Manager Bob Parcell. "Our employees are excited to witness the ceremonial signing of the bill, and we appreciate the efforts of the state to add our iconic product to the list of state symbols."

In addition to Gov. Beshear, other scheduled speakers included Rep. Richards; Plant Manager Parcell; Kentucky State Sen. Mike Reynolds; Kentucky State Rep. Jim DeCesare; Warren County Judge Executive Mike Buchanon, Elaine Walker, Bowling Green Mayor Elaine Walk; and UAW Local 2164 Chairman Shane Colvard

The act reads as follows:
AN ACT designating the Corvette as the official state sports car of Kentucky.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
SECTION 1. A NEW SECTION OF KRS CHAPTER 2 IS CREATED TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
The Corvette is named and designated the official state sports car of Kentucky.

It's so appropriate they're signing it near the douchy engine window. So lame... And no, it's NOT the same as the engine window on the F430, Gallardo, R8, etc. With those cars, A) they're mid-engined and B) they show the ENGINE not the top of the supercharger housing.

Damn, I mostly hate Corvettes... C6 Z06 exempted.

So why do you have your sorry ass in the American car section then? Go back over to the VW section.

I can never understand why people like this come into a forum for an auto that they don't like just to post nonsensical bullsh!t like this.

Damn, I mostly hate 911 douches. Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. Bye now.

Maybe I can clarify just a bit... its much more efficient to catch up on all of the new posts of the day by pressing the "new posts" button at the top of this page, than it is to press the "forums" button. Pressing the "forums" button will display all topics; thereby defining the incredible task of searching ALL "topics" of interest to get to a "thread" you might want to read. I understand that for some, it might be just as easy, if the topic is already known; ex. "Modern Muscle"... you could dive right into the threads under that topic.

I speak for myself when I explain that it is much easier, and provides a much more broad spectrum of topics to choose from by simply pressing the "new posts" button.

From there, I am shown all "threads" (from any category), and am then able to choose which thread I would like to read. Example: "Watch me fly to Grand Bahama" can be a bit more interesting than say, "Who here likes Lynard Skynird". This gives quick access to threads that I may want to read, or not. I prefer the, "F430 track day with video", or "Alonso wets his bed", or "Dana is back baby!".

I'm not telling anyone how to use a forum; but I think I can understand from the line, "I can never understand why people like this come into a forum for an auto that they don't like just to post nonsensical bullsh!t like this". Just trying to help you understand, I could not pass up a good laugh with a thread title that reads, "Yeee-haaaawww: Kentucky finally christens Corvette as Official State Sports Car". Sounded like hilarious bullshit to me, so I clicked it.

As Dave Chappelle has so fluently stated, "Take it easy!" No need for so much hostility bra; this isn't the wild west six

This is fantastic news for me seeing as I always base my car decisions on whether Bowling Green, Kentucky approves of it.

pfft... Bowling Green, are you kidding me? Jox Of The North, I have a very reliable source that lives in the woods near Hickman, KY. He (or she) sends me wire relays once a week with constant updates from the town of Hazel, KY. I have to go with my gut on this one, Hazel is the southern most town in Kentucky, therefore, much more credible information on which model of Corvette to purchase at any given moment.

The proof is in the map...

With all do respect post counts don't mean shit. There are plenty of people who have ridiculous post counts that haven't contributed a single thing. ALMS has actually been here a few months longer than Chris. Just because he doesn't post doesn't mean he isn't here. There are members with 500 posts that have contributed far more than a few with well over 1k posts.

Chris is a great contributor to this board and I've learned a lot from reading his posts. I don't agree with ALMS's temperament in some of his recent posts as we are all entitled to our opinions as this is an open forum. The whole VW vs. Gold Chain argument is a joke and should be viewed that way without people getting their panties twisted. Fortunately, I free ball so I don't have that issue.

I totally agree that post count isn't everything, but that being said either is the date you signed up.... This cat brings little to no value to this forum and can't even be respectful when it comes to disagreeing with someone... One of the main reason I left another car forum (which i had a HUGE post count ) was because of too many trolls like this guy... TS has a great "feel" to it and its mostly because we lack the "online tough guys" that others seem to be filled with!
