Just confirmed that the 458 "scuderia" will have 620ps, and will be called 458 Monte Carlo. Was not able to confirm the weight reduction, or realease date, but def will be next year. Love the name!

Thanks exRocker, I see that bit of news is making the rounds on the net today....

The rumours centre from Sjoerd van Stokkum, a Dutch journalist for the magazine, Quote. Our friends over at Autoblog.nl picked up on a tweet that he sent after hearing the news at Marenello. The exact tweet read: “Heard today in corridors around Maranello Ferrari: the 458 ‘scuderia’ goes montecarlo called and gets 620hp”

 

620 hp? thats a big jump, would love to know how they got so much from the engine. probably all new internals

 

Exacly Mike. But i do have some friends in Maranello wich i called and they did not denied the name or the power output. The gearbox will be even faster, wich i find hard to believe because Ferrari already states that there is interruption in the drive shaft movement when you change gear. But coming from Ferrari, those guys are always able to improve perfection!

 

Do you know if Ferrari are unveiling it this month at the Paris Motor Show? Or is Ferrari using the Paris show for the unveiling of the Enzo replacement, which even that, I've heard they might only unveil it in March at Geneva??

I hope they don't keep the name Monte Carlo. That's not a name for a lighter, hardcore, track focused Ferrari. Rather call it the 458 Monza or Imola etc.

 

That is such a cool name to add on to the end of that car.

Imagine that lineage in a garage:
360 Challenge Stradale
F430 Scuderia
458 Monte Carlo

It just sounds good.

 

Any name Ferrari chooses always seems to sound good lol
