Reckon they did it just as a cheap jab to annoy Ferrari due to the history between the companies?

The whole case will boil down to the liklihood of consumer confusion.

It is impossible to claim any type of trademark dilution here. Any affiliation with Ferrari would increase the value of Ford's trademarks.

But the domain name is an issue. Ferrari will likely have to give up the domain.

Man, I handle this exact type of case everyday.

Has nothing to do with it. If you don't defend your trademark, you lose your trademark. Ford not doing this would have been pretty silly, doesn't matter if the legal outcome is a win, lose or draw.

This is one of the best books out there on US history today! It should be required reading in all high schools. Tells the Ford vs Ferrari story very well.

This goes back to Ford's hatred for Ferrari, from the days of the LeMans. It is ridiculous. If it were a Ferrari Mustang that would be a case but F-150? Come on, Ferrari has had "F-" cars for decades.

I knew this was coming. I remember Ford suing a bunch of Mustang enthusists who photographed their Mustangs and sold a calendar and Ford made them remove the Mustang emblem and the Ford emblems.
