In the major cities that would apply for Olympic games, yes.

I also have a lot of family in Chicago, therefore I'm pulling for this to work out as well. There was talk of trying to get Houston to host the Olympics a few years back...absolute madness IMO.

The biggest plus, besides the money it would bring into the city that I can see as I said before is that it would require Chicago to improve its transport grid around the city, which would have long lasting benefits.

US does not have Olympic sized venues, none would fullfill capacity AND security requirements. What about the Olympic Village and the additional Hotel requirements? Traffic will come to a screeching halt as the public transportation network has to be provided and expanded. Your current transport grid will be affected while they add lanes or expand current rail systems.

Call me crazy, but how can anyone site "global warming" as an reason to cancel future Olympic games? That doesn't make one bit of sense to me since Women's Beach Volleyball does absolutely nothing to diminish the ozone layer.

The Olympics would be a good idea for any city. The problem with Chicago as a host city is the corruption that would divert profits to shady individuals/groups instead of the local governments. Oh, wait...
