Last race FIA GT1 in history... a sad thing

The Mclaren MP4 12C GT3 is an awesome piece.

Next year Hexis will go in Blancpain sprint (1h) & endurance (3h) series.

FIA.com: In order to set in place the necessary marketing and commercial plans and create stability for the series, the 2013 FIA GT1 World Championship will only be confirmed if 10 teams representing 10 brands enter before 30 August 2012.

So it didn't happen?

nope not enough team, the championship started with 16 cars, finished with 10... next year they merge this with the blancpains endurance series.

This year was 9 races in GT1( 1 hour format) and 5 in BES (3 hour format).
Next yaers is a 13 races calendar with every 15 days a new race either sprint (old gt1 1 hour format) and endurance (BES 3h format, SPA total 24h and a new nurburgring (not nordschleife) 1000 km).

The BES gets a massive 50-80 cars per meeting and next years they hope to go from 16 to 40-50 cars in the now sprint & endurance season.

Sound super exiting.

As a side note, HEXIS took the risk to run the newcomer MP4-12C this years and lost the championship by 1 point after a bland 0 point meeting before Donington. They could have won a world championship for the fist entire season of a new car. Hats off to them.

They're going next week to Navarra's BES 3hours race for the win. They had Mclaren Martin Withmarsh all over the past w-e @ Donington when they made 1 & 3 for each race. Mclaren's boss wanted them @ Navarra to win against audi & bmw.
