Maybe they meant 6:55 for those 5 "special" versions of the P1 I'm sure they'll work somewhere into the production run.

The McLaren F1 had the 5 "LM" models that were produced, and the 12C had the 5 "HS" models. Hey, you never know. Unless someone knows?

Paging Peloton25...

Jim Glickenhaus is one of the people who has openly stated that he expects the P1's Ring time to be in the realm of 6:55. He certainly has some experience there with P4/5 Competizione and a working knowledge of how to go fast. I'm surely not in a position to second guess him.

The points raised by jumping horse about the inability to run the P1 at its lowest settings, thereby allowing the greatest effect from P1's aerodynamic aids do have some merit, so we will have to wait and see. There are better tracks to take advantage of all the P1 has to offer for sure, but people only seem to care about times around the Green Hell and Dunsfold since there are many published points of reference. Start talking about an ideal location like Paul Ricard and you have to determine which of its 167 configurations have been run to make any viable comparisons.

There was talk of McLaren developing suspension controls that could be pre-programmed for ideal calibration on various tracks of the world. This could allow McLaren to optimize the car's handling corner-by-corner (with the aid of GPS) and then account for the bumpier sections with increased ride height all on the fly.

I'm not confirming they've done this with P1, but it does fall within the realm of possibilities and McLaren do like to push the boundaries of technology in any way that will enhance performance.

One more detail - the world has at least ten 12C HS models now.

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth or anything, but are there more where that came from?

Cheers.

Is it just me, or does that flower have a  face from looking at the P1?

The Bahrain display for P1 was stunning!

Before anyone asks - I have not seen a larger version of that photo yet but I hope one is released soon!
