McLaren 12C Spider to make US debut at Pebble Beach

Gooding & Company and McLaren Automotive Announce the Global Unveiling of the 2013 McLaren 12C Spider at Pebble Beach

Gooding & Company, in association with the world- renowned Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, will host the global unveiling of the 2013 McLaren 12C Spider at its exclusive VIP preview reception on Friday, August 17, preceding Gooding & Company’s prestigious Pebble Beach Auctions on August 18 and 19.

“Following the success of the 2012 12C North American debut at our Pebble Beach VIP preview reception in 2010, we are honored to work with McLaren Automotive once again with the global unveiling of the 12C Spider,” says David Gooding, President and founder of Gooding & Company. “It’s great to witness the same marque responsible for the highly collectible F1 supercar continue to expand its exceptional road car program.”

“In preparation for our global unveiling this August, we are excited to announce that the 12C is now available to order at McLaren retailers worldwide,” says Antony Sheriff, Managing Director of McLaren Automotive.

2013 McLaren 12C Spider

The new 12C Spider is a luxury convertible sports car that offers a unique combination of spectacular performance and remarkable usability. The Spider’s top features include an impressive, high- powered 3.8-litre V-8 turbo engine boasting 616 bhp, Retractable Hard Top (RHT) folding roof system, and signature carbon “MonoCell” chassis identical to that of the groundbreaking 12C Coupe. The 12C Spider will be priced from $265,750 in the US and is now available to order from McLaren’s 38 retailers in 22 countries around the world.

At its 2010 Pebble Beach Auctions, where the 12C Coupe debuted to North America, Gooding & Company sold a 1995 McLaren F1 for $3,575,000, marking the most recent time a McLaren F1 was sold at public auction.

Gooding & Company’s 2012 Pebble Beach Auctions will take place on Saturday and Sunday, August 18 and 19 at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center, located at the corner of Portola Road and Stevenson Drive. Preview days will start on Wednesday, August 15, and continue through Sunday, August 19. The auctions will commence at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Gooding & Company’s Pebble Beach Auctions catalogues are available for $100 and admit two to the viewing and the auctions. General admission tickets to the viewing and auctions may be purchased on-site for $40. Auctions are broadcast live from Gooding & Company’s website. Bidder registration forms, press credentials and additional auction information are also available on Classic Car Auctions | Gooding and Company or by calling (310) 899-1960. For additional vehicle information and up-to-the-minute results, follow Gooding & Company on Facebook and Twitter @GoodingCompany.

As for the 458 v. 12C spider debate....

I certinaly prefer the 12C, but I am not impartial. To me the 12C has a more organic form with flowing lines that subtley come together to create a very aggressive stance. The rear hunches are huge when viewed from the proper angles.
