Does it make sense to opt for Ceramic Brakes on the MP4-12C?

But yes, I'm a fan of Ceramic brakes in their own right.

of course not...you stay and or get "rich" by caring for spending etc
but in that regard,it may be rather irrational to save on the wrong end of the list at a price 15x or more of the option,..even though this option,e.g CCBs,contributes a lot to the resale value,looks,driving/brake dust/etc

Agreed.

It's all about the fully functional air-brake at the rear. The steel brakes are more than adequete, especially when the airbrake is helping with downforce and overall stopping. It evens out the braking placement. On a side note...maintenence/upkeep is closer to the Germans than the Italians.

Thank you gentlemen. I have been offered a new car with a great spec but no ceramic brakes. Having owned a number of Ferraris and Porsches equipped with ceramics, I am not sure I want steel brakes on the McLaren.
