For a guy who said he wasn't much of a writer, John pulled together a fantastic piece. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and some excellent shots of your beautifully spec'd car along with them. Wonderful stuff!

I hope you continue to enjoy the car immensely!

Excellent write-up. These detailed reviews and experiences are quickly becoming one of my favorite things about Teamspeed. Some awesome articles here. And with this write up and pictures I have officially crossed the line and and now love the MP4.

Congrats on the car John! Looks great and thanks for review!

Thanks for sharing. Just curious- was your call part of the quality recall?

No, that was fairly early on. I believe those were addressed before any cars were shipped to the states. From what I understand, most of the battery issues at the time had to do with the incomplete nature of Iris, and I haven't had any such issues. Since then they have made some modifications to the key fob to allow you to pop the doors from there, just in case you have any issues with the swipe entry. But I actually have no problems opening and locking it with my hand. It does take a couple of days to find just the right swipe, though. Now I hit it every time!

Those types of issues don't really concern me that much. Most cars (including my F430) have updates applied to them occasionally to tweak the vehicle. And McLaren were pretty quick to jump on it. ...I think most of the race teams are used to taking comments from their drivers and turning them around quickly into engineering improvements.

Great write-up. Thanks for taking the time away from your car to share the experience with us. One day, I'll join you in 12C ownership.
