[VIDEO] McLaren MP4-12C HS from Miami
#62
A 12C HS painted 'dirty white' was spotted yesterday by two McLaren customers who had arranged tours of the McLaren Production Centre.
According to one of them the car lacked the amber and red side marker lamps that would have been fitted to a US-spec car and also did not have a cut-out for a rear license plate.
I find both those details interesting as they differ from what we have seen so far and also in my mind it furthers the potential for some of these cars to not end up in the USA. Kind of gives more credibility to the earlier reports we heard. I guess we'll have to wait and see where this one shows up?

Personally I tend to think the 12C has quite enough power already.
Apparently they have boosted the power some not insignificant amount on these HS's. I know that's an easy thing to do with a turbocharged engine but I am certainly curious to know how all the car's other systems coped with that change and whether other areas of the car had to be altered to compensate since the car was developed as a fairly cohesive package. I guess we will come to learn as more tuners start picking them apart for upgrades.
What falb says is quite true though - quoting by McLaren Automotive's Managing Director, Antony Sheriff, "We won't say no, we will only say how much." Interesting way to run a car company.

There's a report they are already doing a 12C with a completely different body. Haven't seen any visible evidence of it yet but there are enough rumors that it seems to be true.
As for the 270 mph request - I would bet that would spark an interesting conversation and you'd need to have the details of your Swiss bank account handy.

How about a magic carpet?
At some point they would probably have to say no to certain requests that are outide the scope of what they intend to focus the company's resources on, and they'd likely do that by telling someone they wouldn't produce what they desired for less than some ungodly figure.
