Lamborghini have been leaders in the super car market for quite some time, and now a new challenger is stepping up to take on the Italian automaker. McLaren is planning on producing a full range to branch out from their MP4-12C and two new models are currently in the design and development phase.

McLaren is stepping up their game and taking on Lamborghini full swing with two new models to challenge their high-end range. The McLaren 'P12' will challenge the Lamborghini Aventador.

The 'P13' model will rival the Gallardo. The new vehicles will make use of the MP4-12C's carbon-fiber monocell tub. The production process consists of holding around 25 carbon fiber pieces in a large tool and while resin is injected, making for a much faster and cheaper procedure than laying up pre-filled sheets of carbon fiber and curing them in an autoclave.According to reports, the Aventador challenger could arrive as soon as 2013. These two new models will join two already planned variants of the MP4-12C, the Spider and a revved-up version. Cabrio versions are also in the works for several of their models.

And I thought the MP4-12C was the Gallardo competitor?

 

F1 successor is all I care about. And I bet it won't even have the three seat layout.

 

I thought the 12C was a competitor to the Gallardo and the 'P13' model was supposed to rival the non turbo 911s and I don't see the 'P12' challenging the Aventador I think it will be a Ferrari F70 competitor. I could be wrong.
