How sad is it for Fifth Gear that they have to use the Top Gear track to test cars now?

I guess that's what happens when you spend your money on reviewers/drivers that actually know what they are talking about and know how to drive.

you're taking the piss, without tiff that show is unwatchable.

its all entertainment and TG is light years ahead in that dept.

Top Gear is indeed light years ahead in entertainment. That is why even non car enthusiasts enjoy it and how they have a much bigger budget. But 5th Gear has better car reviews, and I watch the cars shows for the cars. That is why I only watch the powerlaps from Top Gear. That is the only unbiased part of that show.

Oversteer Overlord has a reputation beyond repute

Some of you may not be aware, but McLaren use Dunsfold Aerodrome as a testing facility - just have a look at some of Macca's press/promo vids. Dunsfold is clearly named.

That's why Fifth Gear is using it - the location is not exclusive to TG, although they would have you believe that.

What I really want to know: Are the test cars anything like the customer cars will be or have Ferrari and McLaren tuned them prior to this test to perform as good as possible on the track? Ever since chris harris article unfortunately I have a hard time trusting car reviews, especially includign Ferrari.
