Oh, this is precious.

And so you have a car that might be taken as a mirror of Mr. Dennis himself. Utterly vanquishing, innovative, a masterpiece of reconciled engineering and accounting. Obsessively compulsively brilliant. And yet oddly flat in affect, a strangely clinical exercise in high-speed, low-altitude mathematics. In performance and dynamics, the McLaren has it all over the Italia. But the Ferrari is emotional, visceral, a whistling scythe of car that cuts off the top of your head and pours in pure automechanical pleasure. The McLaren delivers telemetry.

So if the MP4-12C competes directly with the 458, then is it really a "supercar", by whatever nebulous definition one might give to the word? Because if the 458 is not a supercar you could argue that the McLaren isn't either.

Perhaps a McLaren subsection under TeamSpeed British? This gets confusing.

It's more precious when you finally succumb and get yourself a Macca instead of your Ferrari. You KNOW Lewis wants you to......

But you're right, that's the best summation I've read yet. Haha

From the way I see it the 458 and the MP4-12C are exotics, the supercar should cover every aspect what a SuperCar is from A-Z, from the exterior look to the materials used.

A Super car is a Veyron,Enzo, Aston One77, MC12 and Carrera GT, Zonda's etc.

The newer 2010 exotics might have "SuperCar" performance to those that were released 2003 and onwards. Its still a touchy issue, you've got cars from the 90's like the Mclaren F1 that is faster than most exotics today and you've got something such as the likes of an F50 which can be smoked by lets say a 911 GT2RS.

I prefer to skip reviews written by Dan Neil.

In his sidebar on the McLaren F1 he claims you need a headset intercom system to talk with passengers when inside the car - FALSE.
