Awesome - that looks fantastic!

I'd just go with the Lightweight wheels in Carbon and a carbon fiber front splitter. Then it would be perfect.

His entire gallery of shots is wonderful - Link - thanks for the tip.

Giving us the "Dry Weight" of a car is just plain stupid. Sounds like Ferrari. They've already built one. Fully fueled it, and with all the fluids on board - now what reason do they have not to give us the "wet weight"? Any car without fuel or fluids is nearly useless. It's like saying I weigh 180 pounds...with no blood in my body or water in my cells.

I agree with you on principle for sure, but when most/all of your competitors are speaking in dry weight figures and you only publish a curb weight then you have to hope that the consumers are paying attention to the difference or even realize what it means. It almost makes sense when you realize that curb weights fluctuate a decent amount based on the options added to each car.

The motorcycle industry has been publishing dry weights for a very long time. It doesn't surprise me that performance car manufacturers have picked up on that trick now too.

Just absolutely breath taking.. this really shows the true flag wavin' from McLaren.. never fail to deliver, it's all beauty and performance. Quite possibly the best launch of an auto this year? I think so!

Every time I look at the car, I think of a toy car. And therefore the car is just boring. It has no soul and no character.
It just doesn't have this special supercar presence like a ferrari, a lamborghini or a veyron.

what interests me...
they said the car will be better than the 458 in every way.
Was it faster than the 458 Italia at Goodwood? Or are Goodwood times not meaningful?

Goodwood times are irrelevant. All depends who is driving and whether they are showboating to the crowd or trying to set a record. Most are there for fun - except when they get to the shootout, which neither the 12C nor 458 did.

I disagree regarding its lack of soul though - it looks terrific in the flesh. Italian cars (Ferrari and especially Lamborghini) demand your attention as they are designed that way - "look at me!". For some, that's as important as their performance. For others, looks are secondary and dynamics are the key.

Personally, I think it's great to have a proper supercar from the UK (Aston's, Bentley's etc being GT's) that will make the sector even more exciting - quality cars from UK, Germany and Italy all going head-to-head. Competition is healthy.

Looks good in blue, for sure. I would like to see the front splitter in body-colour though. I'd like one in McLaren Orange with a carbon rear wing! Yes, yes, I'd like it to look just like an F1 LM!
