Post Report: McLaren to launch 2+2 version of MP4-12C supercar?

"The McLaren MP4-12C has barely hit the market yet, and already reports are surfacing of new variants. Last year we were already seeing reports of a convertible version in the works. Then reports of a potential privateer racing model trickled out a few months later. Now, word from across the pond is that McLaren Automotive is planning on squeezing an extra couple of seats into the MP4-12C to make it a proper 2+2."

Really? Will it still have the engine in the back?
If not I wouldn't call it a conversion from the MP4-12C but rather a completely new car.

Hopefully it will be decent looking. While I am sure the Mp4-12C is a high-performance exotic (NOT a supercar) it just doesn't have balanced styling. The tires are too narrow, the back is too narrow, the sides look terrible, etc. etc. I am impressed they used an in-house motor and admire their efforts but in the styling department this car is terrible. It is also disappointing not to see a return of the center driving position..

If Lotus can do it with the Evora, Mclaren can surely do it.

Guys you need to pay attention, MP4-12C is the middle car in a 3 car range. The range topping F1 replacement will be a centre steered 3 seater which is due in 2-3 years time. We are also going to see the bottom of the range 911 rival in a few years too

Let's just hope they get the styling right on the other models. The MP4-12C looks like the Saleen Raptor concept gone wrong. The Raptor is a good looking car and is well balanced. The MP4 just doesn't flow. It looks like a Chinese knockoff of a gallardo and other current exotics..

That's the first I heard of this. Where are you learning this from?

I dunno if having 3 models is a good move. It would dilute the brand. To me, A McLaren is a super car. It shouldn't compete with Porsche 911. Carerra GT, yes... 911, no....
