McLaren F1 In Flames

It will be repaired!!!
"We hate the sight of a destroyed exotic, especially one so rare and exceptional as the McLaren F1. So we're glad to bring you this follow-up report from Santa Rosa, California, where one such supercar went up in smoke last week. And though it hasn't been fixed yet, journos on the scene report that the McLaren in question is being flown back to the factory in England to be repaired.
Ordinarily an engine bay catching on fire would be cause enough for a write off, but this is no ordinary vehicle. With a reported value in excess of $2 million (and being insured for $3 million), even if the repairs cost over a million by themselves, it'd still be well worth the effort and expense, especially if there hasn't been any real damage to the chassis."
WARNING - Its extremely painful to watch this Machine being dragged onto a flat bad - Please Close your eyes if you have any heart condition

The corner of Aviation and Airport Blvd in Santa Rosa!!!! That is about 20 miles from my house. Given my love for McLaren F1's, I'm surprised I couldn't "sense" when it erupted in flames.....
I have a client who has an office about a block from there. I drive by that location at least once a week.

Update
It’s being reported that the McLaren F1 that burned down at the side of the road is being sent back to the UK for repairs after the value of the car was deemed to be so much that repairs would be more economical. The owner, Irv Kessler of Minnessota, had the car shipped over to McLaren on Wednesday after a local company, Canepa Design, decided they couldn’t do anything with the damage.
According to our source (PressDemocrat), the owner uses the car for long distance journey’s, even taking it to the UK at one time for a road trip. Theres some discrepency about the chances of the car being fully restored, insurance companies in the US gave it a 90% chance whereas McLaren experts were more more conservative with their 50% or greater change.
The car was insured for $2 million when the accident happened. We hope to see the car on the road again soon, better than when it originally came out of the factory!

It's valued at about $2.5 millions, but it's insured at 3? Not bad.
I'd like to see if there's a whole story to what happened. Seemed a bit odd to catch fire like that, but I read on the Top Gear site that they were negotiating with BMW to see if they could build a new engine for the customer. Very sad sight nonetheless...
