Hi Peloton, could you please share information on the Franck Muller watches liveried GTR. It was number 53 and had the "long tail" headlamp covers. Which series did it race in and where is it/ what does it look like now?

At the end of the 1996 season it found its way into the hands of HWA AG - Mercedes Benz partner in Motorsport and AMG products - who used it as a test platform for the Mercedes Benz CLK GTR set to debut in 1997. During this time it was fitted with the Mercedes Benz V12 engine and body components at the front and rear that mimic'd what the CLK GTR would wear.
Eventually it found its way back to being a McLaren F1 GTR in whole form and was owned by a Swedish collector for many years. In late 2006 it was put up for sale and reports were that it eventually found its way into a private collection in Italy. I believe the car is still there but recently one source suggested it may be in the UK now. If true, that would be 'news'.
The last time it was seen it was wearing an LM-look - one of 5 F1 GTRs that have been resprayed in McLaren's traditional orange paint. I'd suspect its still finished that way. The bubble headlamp covers are long gone though.

Quick video of F1 #020 my friend shot today near Silverstone:
And a photo from the same source:
Here's a photo of the car taken parked up at the Silverstone Classic:
This car is believed to be the mileage leader for production F1s and is still with its original owner since 1994.
