Alfa Romeo 4C green-lit for production
Rumored starting price £45,000
The Alfa Romeo 4C, the baby brother to the impossibly gorgeous 8C, has been green-lit for production. Plenty of concept photos have hinted at its potential, and we've even some renderings of a possible Spider variant, however nothing had been set in concrete until now.
Importantly, the new baby Alfa sports car will be rear-wheel-drive, but just as crucial is its weight will be kept down by extensive use of carbon-fiber.
A direct-injection turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine will be good for around 230hp, and it will feed a dual-clutch gearbox. Rumor has it the 0-60mph sprint will only take 4.5 seconds. Given the speed at which 'boxes change these days and with its light weight, it's not out of the question.
There is room for improvement, too, with the tip being that a more powerful version will be available later on. We're looking forward to our Spider rendering becoming reality, too.
Speculation is that Porsche should be worried, with the Cayman S a prime target. We'll wait and see on that one, but a sure bet is that the Italian badge and rear-wheel-drive will certainly attract a few buyers.
We'll bring you the full details soon.

Lets hope it is available in rhd unlike the 8c. It was a shame none came to Australia that could be registered and legally driven on the road, although that didnt stop one local from importing one and driving it around lol
