In our region it's worse the Benz relatively hold their value Audi and BMW resale value are awful but the Maserati's resale value is so bad it's laughable. I'm waiting for a Quatroportte Sport GT-S to come to the secondary market I probably could score a mint car for half the price. It's probably got to do with the fact that the vast majority of people who Maserati appeal to would usually buy new cars.

And people are also afraid of the fact that they parts could be rare and expensive
Plus italians were never renowned to make reliable machines anyway...

They have a terrible reputation for reliability, plain and simple.

Hey guys,
Before I respond I should introduce myself - I have lurked here for a few months, and 6 speed for the better part of 2-3yrs, my name is Chase. No cool cars to share, so no posts!
Anyway, the group I worked for operates a Maserati store so I will throw in my two cents for what it's worth. The reliability especially with the DuoSelect (clutch life being so low - ZF auto helped this a lot), not particularly low production numbers, and the "lack" of power I think affect them most.
Example: family friend loves AMG Benzs, has S55 and SL55. He won't consider a Maserati because 400hp is not enough, so despite the stunning (in my opinion) look of the cars, they get nixed because of power - with 500 or 600hp I do not think this would be the case for this type of buyer.

Regards,
Chase

The previous generations from the 90s were a disaster.

I also agree that reliability was the killer. Being underpowered is also a major problem and the one that I hear the most. With that said if having a 400hp DD doesn't bother, for most it shouldn't, their reliability has gone way up in my opinion. My girlfriends uncle has a QP that is his DD and has not had one issue with his at all. A bunch of his buddies also have Maserati's, QP's and GT's and have all had the same good luck. Give it time and I think it will come around. In the meantime take advantage of the crazy resale because the cars are gorgeous...

Ask Knick (Mr the KID) from 6 speed.
He threw some HRE,s on his Quattroporte and all 4 tire pressure sensors exploded.

Welcome to the team Chase, you bring many valid points. I also agree that the DuoSelect was the main issue with Maserati's especially the QP now with the ZF 6speed auto they'll appeal to a wider audience although the QP is widely regarded as underpowered the new QP S with the 4.7 litre V8 and the ZF auto will be perfect IMO you don't need 500-600 hp for it to be enjoyable and the most attractive quality IMO will be the exclusivity when compared with the Mercedes/Audi/BMW
