The Z3(MC 321)hp Project

Great thread. Looks like everything is taken care of with the best of help. All the right moves on a fantastic car.
A couple tips, if I may,
I would recommend also changing trans and brake fluids if you haven't already. OEM for trans and Castrol SRF for brake ! Everything will work much smoother with these. Also, you should replace all plastic bushing in gear lever area which must have hardened like a stone in 5 years.
For susp, I would strongly recommend KW V3, If I had mine shut or broken I would definitely opt for these. They are great for both street and proper track duty. In its softest setting, it is even softer than OEM shocks.
Please let me know if I can be of any help. I am pretty familiar with these cars now. Best of luck with the resto !

Small update: I sent SGS Engineering an email and asked them to set the boot gas struts to 320N instead of the regular 280N, and they just confirmed that they can do this for me. This will ensure that the trunk doesn't slam shut and will lower more smoothly.
Considering purchasing a Bentley Manual in order to become more familiar with the details of my Z3, however the only available version covers the s52/s54 engine instead of the S50. Still on the fence.

Lets hope the Vanos checks out, otherwise I'll need a rebuild kit.. Looking forward to have the engine feel brand new again!

I know its your car and you know it inside out but to us it sounded healthy, Alhumdulilah. I doubt we'll need to do a VANOS rebuild as I didnt hear any chatter or scary Vanos noises. We'll double and triple check when you bring it in in a few weeks.

As for the manual, I would advise getting BMW's own TIS workshop manual. It covers pretty much everything.
I tried those too and they have helped the health of the vanos but if I were to do it again, I would buy a freshly rebuild kit from Mr.Vanos. It is a nice piece of mind and really livens up some of the tired horses in the engine
