I am usually the last person to pull this card, and have years of flat-out autobahn driving under my belt, but ... doing 186 mph when there's even a possibility of a lane change in front of you is in-freakin-saaaane.

Somehow I found this quite notably. The M-family out for a drive 
Following the M5 were anM6 and an M3 being driven by the driver’s sons. They were able to put out a fire that started in the M5’s engine bay following the crash.

Dont totally agree..depends on engineering and on luck. If you doing 186mph in a e39 M5 (example), your "luck" is smaller.
