The M3 is preferred over the C63 by people seeking handling, not straighting performance. The thing is that the C63 will never be that good and it doesn't need to be. They should be distinct enough, which they currently are.

Car & Driver? M3
But why would one buy the M3 now when you can get the C63 (M3 is EOL and the new one is at least two years away)? The C63 looks better, is more fun, performs great, sounds great...

This is the same BS argument that I hear from people looking at Cayman's. Are they great cars? yes. Better handling ON A TRACK then a 911? yes.

On a daily basis where you're a wanna be hero/driver behind the wheel?

NO.

The 911 is amazingly fantastic car to drive on and off a track. And just like the M3- most drivers aren't 2/10th the driver they need to be to exploit it's capabilities. So go ahead and justify the Cayman is a better handler. But you better brush up on your driving skills- b/c thats where the most ground will be made. Regardless of the car.

The C63 is more fun on a daily basis and will smoke many-a-car in the corners as well. We're not talking S-63 or the C55 of days gone past.

This C63 is a real handler. And it's a real HANDFUL on the track. Thus REAL drivers need only apply to handle this car.

I've said this before, and I'll continue to say this until the journo's finally admit it on paper-

BMW is going the way of pussification. The lines are more blurred than ever before between BMW and MB. The C63 is more M like (as in visceral aka E46 chassis) and the new E92 more MB like- being numb in the steering, shifter, *feels* heavier, and isn't nearly as fun. I've had a lot of folks give up their M for a 997.

MB and AMG are doing a bang up job- and it's only going to get better.

BMW better have something really tremendous up its fender....otherwise they'll play catch up for a long, long time.

Personally I'm sick and tired of hearing these unoriginal journo's spew the same shite. Mercedes and its AMG crew are sending grand-slams out of Germany, and they deserve kudos for it.
I understand what you're saying, and I do agree that the AMG group produces great cars. But I guess that us enthusiasts are too few and far between. I do not know any enthusiasts that would rather have an automatic transmission. When I try to drive a car without a standard transmission I feel so... disconnected. I suppose it's because I can appreciate it all, and that only fuels the car obsession. lol

Used to own an AMG so I am a fan of their line up, but I'd take the M3 for sure. Very different cars, though.
C63s are flying out of the showrooms because they're brand new. M3's are EOL, almost all cars get discounts right before they are replaced. They flew out of the showroom when they were new. And the AMGs will get discounts right before they are replaced.

The new C63 has the MCT transmission. Thier version of a dual clutch.

If you drive one you'd change your story.

Stoppie, when/will the c63 get the 5.5 bi-turbo engine?

I've driven the c63 on the track the new gearbox is sensational, I like the c63 more than the cls63 as I've driven both.

However I like te sedan more, not a fan of the side profile.

Having driven pre facelift and facelift 63's , the gearbox is a major improvement and shifts extremely fast.

From what I've heard there's a possibilty it won't. -not for this chassis. Which IMHO is the smarter move. This car has plenty of power, it certainly doesn't need a power plant change.

The 5.5l TT would be faster than the E63 5.5, which is a big no no. That's why.

Stoppie sounds like he works at a MBZ dealership haha. Either way, both great cars.
