Spied: 2013 BMW M6 with less disguise
Spotted again out and about by our Teamspeed spies is the next generation M6. Shown here testing on massive 20 inch wheels the new M6 is expected to be revealed in September 2012, ahead of the 2012 Paris Motor show. We can only assume as with all the current BMW's we have spied more revealing shots will appear as the debut gets closer.
We expect the new M6 to have the same engine and internal as the M5 revealed last week. The monster 4.4-litre engine develops top output of 412 kW/560 hp at 6,000 – 7,000 rpm, while its maximum torque of 680 Newton metres (502 lb-ft) is on tap between 1,500 and 5,750 rpm. The rev limiter intervenes at 7,200 rpm. The rev band, which offers extremely dynamic acceleration between the arrival of peak torque and the availability of maximum output, is therefore almost three times as wide as that of the predecessor unit.
The sprint from rest to the 100 km/h (62 mph) mark like the M5 should be in the range of 4.2-4.5 seconds. Maximum speed will be electronically restricted to 250 km/h (155 mph); if the optional Driver’s Package is available as in the M5 this limit is raised to 305 km/h (190 mph).
