You will enjoy this process my friend I did almost exactly the same a year ago! Including replacing the roof lining, door handles, repainting the wheels etc.. Love driving it now.. The bits and bobs like replacing decals and side grills I did slowly over the years.. its an on going process but fun, especially if you plan on keeping the car forever! I refused to fix the moving seats and the CD changer.. I bought rubber bushings and will fix the seats myself, and I'm thinking about ordering an OEM cd unit to replace the tape player..

Good luck!

Thanks Matt. This gives me more joy than driving my 2011 BMW at the moment. Anybody can buy a brand new car but having the patience and effort for restoring old stuff to perfection is another thing.

I love it already. I intend to hold on to it for a long time. Your MC looks incredibly clean, now I see how !

continues...

Next day, I went to see the progress on the diff mount crack. We had it argon-are welded for lifetime durability.

All these dots were torn before,

and as expected, it burned the protective zinc cover inside the boot floor which will be fixed once my painter finishes the wheels.

Then I wanted to fix my bruised stering wheel logo from the PO. It was in bad shape.

Then my mechanic recommended me his invention to this problem. It seems one of the little emblems of BMW motorbikes fit the hole perfectly.

After a bit of glueing and pushing, ta-ta !

Lastly, I went to check my exhaust guy for the cat. delete work. As usual his craftsmanship was excellent.

Today, we did quite a bit work, mostly replacing parts and maintenance of some mechanisms.

First we replaced some worn, old interior trims and pieces,

Old AC button and lighter,

New ones installed,

New passenger cargo net,

Replaced the race boy pedal set with new OEM ones,

F&F edition,

New OEM pedals,

New coin tray mat,

Then we have cleaned and lubricated window mechanisms for smoother operation ( they were quite slow ).

Once they were done, it was time to change ALL the fluids in the car. Engine, trans., brakes, diff.

We used BMW's special FM booster oil for the diff. $$$ ! It is supposed to minimize diff noise. We'll see.

And also replaced the brake fluid with MEGA EXPENSIVE Castrol SRF fluid. Guys at the shop really laughed hard at me when they learned how much I paid but I was happy anyway. I use this on my M3 at the track too and so for, vey happy.

Lastly we installed the new cat. deleted exhaust,

and a quick video of the new sound of the car. A rasper, just as I wanted.

Sounds great! I'm sure a thorough detail will also do wonders to the car, but I'm sure you have that planned as well
