For the love of Pete, slushie ONLY for the F10 M5!!!?

I can't see BMW fitting the M5 with an auto tranny. It's possible they won't offer a 6 speed I could see that. I think its wrong to not offer a 6 speed but its possible they wont. However based on the picture showing the DCT looking shifter I suspect they will offer some kind of double clutch or sequential tranny. I think this only auto talk is just a dumb internet rumor. IMO

I don't get all the fuss. These are just rumors right now. BMW has taken a very long time to develop the F10 M5. I'm sure BMW M engineers test every option before working with marketing and management to finalize what drivetrain will be offered. I can bet this car will be pretty epic and give the E63 AMG a good run.
I watched these vids a few times. While the S63 V8 engines sound similar, the gear changes between the X6M and M5 sound a little different. The M5 shifts sound too quick and smooth to be a Steptronic Auto. I have a feeling BMW M will produce the M5 with a revised M-DCT.
Listen to the M5 around 0:43 for the gear change

Listen to the X6M at around 1:14 for the gear change.
X6M has a 6-Speed M Sport Automatic

It sounds like a DCT to me at 1:10. Again very quick gear change.

Even at the very end of this video you can see the M5 roll back a bit like in a M-DCT M3 and DCT 135i/335is.
The ZF Steptronic Auto has a feature that applies rear brake to prevent roll back.
I love how the test drive stomps on it at 0:38

considering there was such a small demand for the e60 m5 with 6-speed, i dont see them really feeling the need to offer it anymore. most people prefer paddle shifters nowadays even in sports cars, heck, even the 458 italia only comes automatic.
im really looking forward to this car, bet its gonna be great. and FAST.
