Replaced the MAF's today on my M5

It's like I got another 100HP.

The engine oil temp also runs a little cooler.

I guess I should put MAF on the list of consumables on this car.

It was so easy too, unhook the MAF connectors, remove 2 screws each, turn and pull out the old MAF unit, install the new Bosch unit with the same part number from bimmerzone, put the screws back, reconnect the MAF connector.

The secret menu confirms I can dump way way more than 120 liter/hour like I was getting before. And butt dyno also indicates that the car is noticeably faster, as in different car faster.

All this for 300 some odd bucks for two Boch sensors. You don't need to replace the entire thing like BMW wants you to.

I thought about doing this while I had mine but the readings seemed to be ok both in the secret menu and using a datalogging OBD scanner. What readings were you getting before the change?

I was only able to get 120 on a good day and only very briefly, mostly 90 to 100.

Now I easly can get to 140 and then some uncorrected, and the car pulls really hard.

YouTube - Bmw M5 e39 MAF Test

I can't wait to take his for a spin. Just added a UUC SSK, and custom exhaust. This vid got me excited.

Nice stuff man. Sounds like it's well worth the money to replace the MAF. I'm going to let my good buddy know about this. He just picked up a E39 M5 Carbon Black over Caramel Nappa leather.

MAF's made a big difference in my car too! Have you done anything else to her yet?

The E60 SSK with the UUC SSK was the best mod I have done.

The OEM BT with that Elk AMP because I had low volume issue, OEM AUX, BMW wheel locks, the rubberized trim piece on the armrest due to worn out rubber coating, next up is replacing the driver side leather seat cover. There are some slight discoloration on the driver bolster, and I don't want to wait until BMW runs out of them.

The previous owner obviously did not move the seat back before getting out of the car, and the discoloration was from his pants rubbing against the bolster area. So easy to prevent, yet people don't do it.

I see more wear and discoloration from the upper bolster of my e92 sport seats. Probably as a result of someone a little taller than me putting pressure on it to get up and out of the car.
