boner...

chokeu2 08-27-2010 04:43 PM

I'm VERY interested in this car. For some reason, really like the "size" of the 1 Series, but I just couldn't see owning one. Now... assuming that BMW keeps consistent with stupid fast sedans, a juicy engine in a car this size just might be the one that pulls me off the fence.

stuka 08-27-2010 04:57 PM

has the Inka Orange color been confirmed?

If so, I am just going to have to buy one.

M5Kid 08-27-2010 05:03 PM

^ You and your flashy colors.

IIVVX 08-27-2010 05:37 PM

whats it powered by?

"The JC" 08-27-2010 05:56 PM

This thing will fly by me at Harris Hill Road

Bullitt44 08-27-2010 06:10 PM

Definitly interested in the details and price point. BMW needs a hitter besides the M3.

big_slacker 08-27-2010 07:13 PM

Wonder if they fixed the cutesy lower side swoop that ruins the styling of the 1. I like the size as well, this could be an awesome urban DD.

MeanMachine 08-27-2010 07:21 PM

The car looks small and it actually has comfortable back seats, we took a roadtrip in a 125i last year around France, its neat and a quality product.

Winchm60 08-27-2010 07:54 PM

LOVE it!!!!

Same feeling. Ive driven a few 135's before and its a great car, very quickly but I dont know if I could ever drive one everyday.

We shall see how quick this one is!

Raz5219 08-27-2010 09:59 PM

yeah, I like the idea of it and I['m sure it will drive great, but I just don't see myself owning one. It's just too small..like a matchbox version of my 335.

Anyone know which engine is going in it?

mtechnik 08-27-2010 10:42 PM

The 1M in the vid may be a new metallic orange by BMW. I've heard rumors of Phoenix Yellow, and Power Green as well.

Inca Orange all the way!! I would love to own this for my next car. Roots of the 1M.

N55 with approx 345 hp. M-DCT trans. 6MT optional. LSD. On sale mid 2011.

Alzilla 08-28-2010 02:31 AM

This is one of the few cars I'd take over a Mustang GT.

ECB 08-28-2010 08:53 AM

are you sure? i think the new 1er M Coupe will be powered by the N54 engine like the 335is and Z4 sDrive35is.

ECB 08-28-2010 09:13 AM

+1...thought that as well

STOPPIE 08-28-2010 10:26 AM

I wondering about price point as well. I'd love to drive one and see what it's all about.

I stand corrected. I was tired last night. I meant to say N54. Now reports are it will be offered with a manual trans only. The cost was too high to R&D a DCT into a limited run car. Color of the launch car pictured here is Valencia Metallic Orange.

jox 08-28-2010 02:32 PM

About time they introduced a proper little racer. I sincerely hope they keep the weight WAY down.

Seems like they opened the old family album again and started looking at what once made BMW M cars what they are today ..... and realized that the answer does not lie in pointless X6/5M SUVs.

See now that's what I mean - back to basics! They say "not enough money" for a stupid flappy paddle gearbox, I say "blessing". Might even have to buy one of these now.

ECB 08-28-2010 02:48 PM

exactly!

back to the good ol days of the E30 M3 :)

IIVVX 08-28-2010 04:35 PM

It will be a fun project to play around with this car, KW coilovers, HRE Comp's, CF exterior parts, roll bar, carbon roof like m3, and more power like 420hp.

Clubber 08-28-2010 05:53 PM

I'm very excited for this little beast. I KNOW it will be great to drive..

Sort of E30 M3 for 2010 !! Can't wait for the revealing...

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully it doesn't get big and bloated again where we need to hope for a new 0 series M version or something. Also, I hope they don't restrict this for fears of cannibalizing their m3 market...

Estoril/Imola Red with Black dashboard for me.

MC321 08-29-2010 06:22 AM

My hope is that, stock for stock, it significantly outperforms the 135i, otherwise it'd be a waste of money.

of course it will outperform the 135i

and those who say it makes no sense since you can tune a 135i easily to 400hp simply don`t realize that

a) with the 1 M you get a very very solid base for modding it furhter

b) the suspension setup, chassis rigidness, steering etc and the work of the //M engineers will pay

c) the internals will be way stronger than those on the 135i ,so durability - even when heavily modded >400 hp - will be no issue anymore

d) BMWs hp numbers are always very conservative..

I`m thinking about changing my car for another one for quite some time now..

I have test driven the new M3 and the Cayman S...both very cool cars and while the Cayman lacked the power to keep up with the Emmy,it`s midengine and suspension setup just made up for anything because it was such a pleasure to feel and drive it around the backroads.
Great in just about every aspect, except the engine.

now that the 1er M is about to come I guess I`ll wait and hope that this car will offer the right power and a lightweight sportscar handling and feeling

But I hope they will change the engine mapping for better throttle response and a better sound...like changing the ignition times/intervals and all that
