Did I misread, or did BMW really not use this as an opportunity to upgrade the differential to limited slip?

If they had done that, it would be worth it. Instead, get 335i w/ M Sport Package, and do a limited slip and software/cooler yourself. Great all around performace sedan. Just as capable as an E39 M5, I bet.

$55k for a 3 series? You gotta be kidding me!

Spend $65k and you'll get a Cayman S.

Whoa, that's stepping awfully close to M3 prices

I think they should do this as a 135 iS. Get us a 1 series M. Why fill a gap no one is looking for. It is obvious BMW inteanded the 335i engine for M duty and then upped the ante when everyone else was over 400 hp (AMG, ISF, RS4). It is obviously way detuned and under rated.
Still like it but for less $...
