Official: BMW M3 GTS

Too bad that they ditched the CSL nameplate. GTS is very generic.
The concept of turning a four-seat sports coupe into a two-seat track car is somewhat less appealing to me than turning it into a lighter, harder, tauter four-seater.

Exactly what I thought when I saw it. Looks like some ricer has tuned their M3. Cannot understand what BMW are doing with things like this and the M SUVs.

Don't get me wrong, I do like the new GTS. Can anyone confirme following I found on another forum? "4.4 litres and 450bhp and 1490kg 302bhp/tonne, power to weight is better than CSL, E92 M3, M5, M6, 996 GT3, 996 GT3RS, 997 GT3, a (none of which are over 300 bhp/tonn"

I honestly cant understand how you can complain about this car, its a whole new enginge just for this car, 4,4L! its the best BMW has done in a very long time!

Alot of people here saying that the new GTS is "rice". It`s not rice when the wing and front spoiler is there for a purpose. This car is ment to be abused on the tracks, not cruising around town. Other then the wing being "rice" as you call it, i can`t see anything but the color maybe? But i think you can order it in any color you want.

Sideways:
The 46 CSL weighed 1385kg ( 1542 for E46 M3 ), this GTS is what, 300pounds heavier? The E46 has 111 hp/litre versus what, 102 hp/litre?
Can guarantee the old one is more hardcore than this one. Especially if the difference between the E46 and E92 is anything to go by. Have you driven/ ridden in the previous one?
And i don't care much for the new V8 engine for some reason. The GTS will be different i know, and will be interesting to see how much of an impact the .4ltre makes.
The previous car managed just fine without the riceroni rear wing and tacky carbon splitter, which i think is what i'm most annoyed by. You could blend in driving the CSL, only the true gear heads knew what it was, in this thing, you are going to stick out like a prick.

You say that it's the best BMW have managed for a long time, but the three latest M-cars are now two SUVs and a caged track-car. The E46 CSL were a roadcar, and even though it was leightwight and, it still retained everyday practicality. This doesn't, and in return for what is lost, I simply don't see that enough has been won. To me, this seems more like an attempt to prove that the E92 is hardcore with a limited halo model, while still keeping the regular E92 very comfortable.
