Excuse my lack of knowledge here, but isn't short-shifting supposed to be faster? Isn't it when you won't take your foot of the accelerator while shifting?

What we are saying by "short shifting" in this case is that the driver of LP shifted the car at 8000rpms, not at 8500rpms where LP is redlined at.

Oh, I just misinterpreted the words then. I didn't actually notice that in the vid. It may give the Datsun a little advantage, but still, which other super/sportscars can keep up with a LP640...

Redline is at 8250RPM, old murci was at 7800RPM. You can go slightly into the red though.
