TSM ProEight Turbo Data vs. 2871 Style

After our preliminary release of the TSM Pro Eight turbo package, we have received dozens of questions asking how these compared to a competing manufacture's turbos. Instead of making claims of how much power they make or comparing them to another vendors turbos, we decided to just lay all of the data on the table for everyone to see. We decided the best way to provide honest and accurate data for the community was to run a back to back test using the same car, the same supporting modifications with as similar conditions as possible. While I am not comfortable disclosing the specific brand of the turbo we are comparing, we will tell you that it is a known 2871 turbo upgrade for the GT-R.

So on Monday night we decided to throw the 2013 TSM test car on the dyno for a perfectly accurate baseline then on the lift she went. With our current work load here at TSM there is absolutely no time during normal working hours to perform this type of minor surgery. However I deemed it as something very important in order to provide accurate information to you guys. So to work we went. Much of the team worked tell 4am and then started again at 7am in order to make this happen. I have to thank my guys! I have such a passionate wonderful team behind me! So, out came the current 2871 style turbos and in went our TSM Pro Eights.

The TSM ProEight turbos are completely different than anything on the market right now. While I want to give you guys as much information as I can, I also worked very hard and did TONS of testing on these and other turbos in order to get to where they are today. This center section is built for us by one of the biggest turbo manufacturers in the world. The wheels are designed in the USA for TSM exclusively. The center cartridge is built to accept all of the factory Nissan hard lines!!! This is a KEY point that we worked very hard at. There is no line kit that works better, in our opinion, then the factory braced, heat shielded oil and coolant lines. This is something that took us a great deal of time and investment to make happen. The main reason we did it obviously was for performance, but another perk to the customer is it takes much less time to install. Installing the ProEight turbos takes 2-3 hours less then a typical Garrett cartridge style turbo because there is no extra line routing or heat sleeve needed. That not only helps you by retaining factory like reliability, but it saves you money in the long run!

I want to also touch on fit and finish for a minute. Over the years we have seen just about every type of stock frame turbo come through our shop. Some of them looked amazing, some of them were sub par, and some of them we simply refused to put on a car. We have made sure that our turbos are up there with the top tier of stock frame turbos. If you are ordering a set of our turbos, expect the following and nothing less!

-Clean Compressor Housings
-ALL hardware needed for install
-Heat coated manifolds
-Included TSM Wastegate Actuators
-SYNCED Wastegates
-All Exhaust studs checked for perfect threads and not broken
-No cracks in either housing
-Pre-Oiled cartridge for safe startup
-Vacuum sealed packaging to insure no debris gets in the turbos

DYNO RESULTS:

These dyno runs were done within 20hrs of each other, same tuner, same dyno, same car, same parts. Only change was the removal of the 2871 style turbos and installing our TSM ProEights. They are also at the EXACT SAME BOOST! As you can see from the log screen shot we got the boost level as close as possible between the two runs. As you can see from the graph the lag is very minimal. Giving up less than 10whp and 5lbs of tq below 4400 then the magic happens. The ProEight opens a very respectable gap all the way from 4400 to redline as you can see. A gain of 53WHP at the same boost levels is something we were very happy with!

All the data I could think to give you guys is below. Please feel free to ask any questions you like as I’m happy to share as much as I can. These turbos will be put to the test both at the drag strip and at the TX2k 2013 on a couple of our customers cars! As always expect real world results to back up what we build here at TSM!
