Of all the cars I ve owned and I usually pick fun cars rather than flashy look at me types, My MY00 S2K was the most fun I've ever had on 4 wheels. There is no other car out there which combines all the attributes of S2K.

Open top

LSD
and FUN !!!

go for it, you won't regret it.

This thread makes me want to go buy an S2000 instead of an E46 M3, it'd leave me with some spare cash to finish building my GC8 as well...hmm.

^^ Really? I'd much rather go with the E46 M3.

- Will, although the S2k is a small car, I think it is a good choice. Since the car is somewhat reliable and has good reviews, I'd go for it

The E46 M3 is also twice the price for one in good shape, is much larger (which I don't like), and is very expensive to maintain and fix.

I had a 2004 AP2, and it was a blast! I never had a single issue with it except the factory option hard top didn't fit very well, and that is a known issue among the S2K community. Other than that and the terrible luggage space, it was a very reliable and fun car, with one of the smoothest gearboxes ever. I only traded it in cause I needed a snow-worthy car :-). FYI, if height is a concern, im 6'3 and I fit it about perfectly, any taller and I would have been screwed!

I have owned a couple S2000s and loved them. I always tell people I will buy another one!
They are low cost cars as long as you take car of them, if abused the wear and tear items are a little more then you would expect from a Honda.

I vote YES.

I thought the F22c (MY04-08) only went to 8000 rpm?

I owned an 01 (white/red, heavily modified - Stoptechs, coilovers, prodrive wheels, 4.56 final drive, seats, etc) and an 02 (silver/blue, lightly modified). Both cars had hardtops, both fit perfectly.
AP2 has some nice upgrades for a DD, but mostly just looks better (aside from engine change). For pure fun, I'd save a few dollars and find an 02-03. Extra money can buy you some 17'' wheels. Those years have the defrosted glass rear window, pleather console (instead of carpet from 00-01), extra tweeters on the door, upgraded ECU (same power) ... and rev to 9k!

First upgrades IMO should be a heavy countersunk knob and the UK-spec alignment.
But there's a ton of cheap mods that give a good bang for the buck (and plenty of pricey mods), which is 1/4 of the fun of owning these cars.
World's easiest car to work on.

If this is a car you will be taking to college, you may want to choose one with more cargo space.
