LFA uses a hood rod?

As a disclaimer, I'm not in the market for the LFA. However, this is where many will disagree with me. For the price, you are getting something that performs on the straight line on par with something less, but there are cars up and down this ladder that are guilty of the same thing. So that to me is not even an argument. If I wanted something fast in the straight line, Italian is the last thing I'm looking at. I'll write my thoughts on the Lexus later.
The Aventador is going to face the same fate as its predecessors. They're going to overproduce it and give it a 10 year lifespan without any major tweaks. For someone shelling out $400k for a car like that, they're going to be PISSED. Let's not forget about the costly options. In another thread a Ferrari was spec'd to $150k over. I didn't even think that was possible.

They always market the same basic car, but once their is a refresh, customers come back and trade them in. I agree that Lamborghini does have long runs on their cars, but they get away with it. The future may bring new things.

That just sounds like a disaster for new car buyers who plan on holding onto their purchase. The novelty wears off and the resale tanks every time an update is released.
Anyhow, here's what a customer has to say about his LFA experience.

Very short verdict: The LFA is the best car I have ever driven. It is so incredibly stable in cornering that it is simply mindboggling. Repeatedly through my instruction I was way too tentative because I was expecting it to react like a typical Ferrari or Porsche MR/RR with heavy rear weight bias. It's simply an amazing experience, way more special than any of the exotics I've driven, and especially at a place like Infineon the car really shines.

One of our locals was at that test day with the LF-A and had a great review of the car as well. He said in person it was still ugly
but the car drove very well. He said it would be a very good 250k car but not a 350k to 400k car.
Very smooth and the balance was amazing was his main point. Although he drives a POS SV
his word is good in my book. I will never drive one so I'll have to leave the reviews to others. I can only say for now I think it's not so good looking and I feel it's over priced.

- At least 2 USA buyers have bought more than one LFA.
- They are still selling LFAs so that 25ish figure is decreasing. They sold another 2 units this week just in west region. This is a car that can definitely convince people of its place as a legendary supercar after they drive it.
- There are already 12 Nürburgring Editions on order in the US. (So happy to hear this.)
- Nürburgring Edition production is scheduled to start January 2012 at the same time as premium colors, not at the end of the cycle as I previously reported
- Lexus is committed to continuing to provide LFA customer support beyond just service/maintenance, including developing LFA community... more to come
BTW, the feedback on this car from pros who have driven it on the track continues to be amazing. I won't name the pro who said this, but he mentioned he has a client who personally hired him for Infineon track instruction in the client's own 458, and that while the 458 is a great car, the LFA is better and "far more special".

Thata boy! Many attacks on this car come from pre-production results. We can play the numbers game and discredit many cars on the list. IMO, it's a dumb game to play. If we based our decisions on that, we'd all be driving American. Nothing wrong with that, but it's nice to have options out there. Here's another update. This person's car just landed on shore and should be receiving his in the next few weeks.
Sh*t, I'd drive the hell out of one if I could!!

Cars like the F40, F50, Enzo, Carrera GT are all flagships with a great story and resale to boot. They are also likely to be found in supercar garages here and elsewhere.
Lambo could have followed suit, but they keep shooting themselves in the foot. Resale has plummeted due to updates, increased production, and owners tending to dump them before any of it takes effect. So at the prices they're commanding, they're not worth it for the long-term owner. Every update makes the car it replaces less special.
The Aventador is no different and is going to face the same challenges. The brand will compete, outdate, and update it with itself.
