If it helps I'm getting a 06-07 STI in the spring. I've always like STIs over EVO. I haven't driven the new STI or the EVO X, but based on the past years I'd go with the STI.

I know where you can find an Evo 6 TME if you are looking for raw performance and one of the rarest Evos out there.

Evo X GSR. Shift your own damn gears.

Stronger than the STI and it doesn't look like someone beat it to death with an ugly stick.

I was actually looking at the STi and the GSR but more for track use than actual daily driving…
Looking at costs of mods and warranty issues (in Bahrain) I would go with the STi… its not as good as the Evo on the track but amazingly easer to drift. It might also be a more comfortable DD for you. The electronics are great and you can customize the settings immensely, which makes it more accommodating should you choose to track it.
The Evo was a fun drive but not as comfy (looking at it from a DD point of view) and I think with stage one bolt ones and re-mapping I can get 360hp which is more than I need for a fun day at BIC. (PLEASE dont take and auto trany)
