3rd in line for GT-R: Buy or pass?

Ok it's official, 4pm as of today I went from 1st to 3rd in line to pre-order the GT-R. They want $5k deposit, delivery date from June 08 - Dec 09, $5k over MSRP. California dealer is selling theirs at $25k over sticker and we've seen posts from DJ saying it could go for up to $129k.

Risk = people aren't willing to pay that and you lose money or just recover what you've spent.

Reward = take the money and put it towards another car purchase

Would you take the risk, order, and sell it on ebay (or elsewhere) or pass?

You'll probably be able to flip it, but I personally dislike people who snap up rare things solely with the intention of flipping them on ebay for a profit. Why don't you buy it and keep it? Or sell your spot to someone who actually wants the car? (You can still at least make a bit of profit.)

I completely understand what you mean. Wouldn't the person buying it on eBay be someone who really wants the car, but just didn't plan ahead to stand in line for it, and happens to have the funds for it?

It's hard to get a spot in line when there are a limited number of places and speculators have snapped them all up. Not trying to attack you personally or anything. I just think it means that there are a few people who could afford the car at 5k over sticker who will be priced out of the ebay market and didn't get a chance to secure a place on the initial list. Seriously, why not keep the car? If you really hate it you can always go trade it on the Targa you seem to want, those are easier to get.

V-spec, the first cars might have the usual problematics that first year production cars have.
