Nissan GT-R can't take aftermarket wheels, unapproved race tracks are out
#13
FYI, it has been confirmed that the US models will not be speed limited (on/off approved tracks) nor will the "race track" big brother GPS module apply to us. The only rate limit set is if the car is in 6th gear and it redlines (which means you're probably doing around 193 mph or so).

I think even if Nissan were to impose these things, it would be very easy for an ECU reprogrammer to get around it.
It's like the German manufacturer agreement for 155-mph limited cars - people easily reflash to defeat this function.

but getting inside the ECU to re-tune will get progressively harder w/ each new generation of ECU. there will always be someone who wants to hack it for the sake of hacking it; but as a viable business, i bet we're only 5-10 years away from it not being very profitable.
