We’ve been hearing the rumours in the Japanese motoring press lately that this might happen and as of this week it is confirmed. Nissan has instructed dealers to temporarily halt taking orders on the new Japanese supercar - the Nissan GT-R. When ordering will recommence, at this stage, is unclear. This is for Nissan Japan only and we’re not sure if it applies to other regions right now. Exactly the reasoning behind this is not given right now, if the Tochigi Factory production line has also been halted is also not known. Rumours regarding the current “price hike” for materials being the reason is also not verified.

Various other reasons are being hypothesized, such as the timing of the next GT-R model being right around the corner or production line upgrades/maintenance. Nissan Japan have, at this stage, made no formal announcement so it could very well be a extremely temporary glitch. Surely this will push the Spec-V back again though?

Anyone else not impressed by the picture of the Nissan factory? Looks like a run of the mill machine shop, not a company as big as Nissan...

gotta save money somewhere

you drive a lambo or ferrari to impress people

you drive a gtr because of the hype and performance and cost effectiveness...

I'm surprised this isn't related to the recent bad press given to the transmission.

Yeah, I understand this... but I've toured the Harley Davidson and BMW factories before and they're impressively clean, open, well lit, and modern looking. The Nissan factory above looks like a sweatshop.

I'm very much over the GT-R at this point. It was a torrid, but unsatisfying, affair.

because you couldn't get one at sticker? that is a pretty weak reason to dislike a car...
