I know there is a ton of roadie-ism in this thread. My favorite manufacturers on the dirt side:

Intense-How can you not love American made boutique bikes that win races? I've only owned two full suspension bikes, both Intense.

Specialized-They get knocked for being a big box company, but their designs and quality are usually very good. I've owned two speshes, one hardtail (my first mountain bike) and my current SS roadie. Love both.

Black Sheep-I don't give a rat's ass if their designs get slammed for being form over function, two expensive or blingy, etc... They make beautiful bikes, they make a lot of singlespeeds and they make a lot of titanium. That's awesome in my book.

Cervelo, BMC, C'dale, Specialized for road. Santa Cruz, Yeti for mountain.

This does not include all the random unknown manufacturers though. I have a De Bernardi that I don't ever plan on getting rid of. Gan Well Pro, 3Rensho, Nagasawa, Ciocc, etc.

I love my Cannondale CAAD 9 over most since it has the famous Made in the USA on the rear seat stays. I'll never replace it, just add to the collection.

I really want a 29er hardtail, but a wedding and the minimal use it will get leaves it on the back burner.

I love the CAAD9. A friend of mine had one with Sram Red/Hollowgram Cranks - one of the lightest, stiffest bikes I've ever had the pleasure of checking out. I was contemplating buying it off him once the CAAD10s started rolling around but I don't know what he did with it.

I've never gotten to ride one but there's a few people on here who seem to enjoy them. I know that for the price of the Madone, there's better to be had, but that doesn't mean that they are bad by any means.

I've spent some time on a madone. Ok in my book. Not grand.

Trek makes a good bike. Solid. Well priced. I just like TI bikes personally

Trek rocks IMO. Solid construction especially if your going high end. Plus Project One is pretty darn cool.
