Can you guys recommend some good, comfortable running shoes? I just started running (which I haven't done in years) and need some new shoes for it and want to find out what you runners out there like. Thanks!

Did a 10 miles out 'n back on the tahoe rim trail today on the mini-beast. With all my travel and focus on lifting this summer I haven't gotten to do much riding this year. Pedaling that fat bastard up 1k vertical in 5 miles about killed me. Just retarded fun on the way down though, jumping off everything.

The best way to do morning cardio is prior to breakfast, on an empty stomach. Your body is still in starvation mode at this point, and you will burn calories more efficiently doing morning cardio this way.
AFTER you do your morning cardio, have your egg whites. EVERYONE needs protein (generally 15 grams per lb of body weight if you are working out).

@Slacker, that looks so epic. Seeing things like that is a constant reminder of why I love cycling...the best destinations are usually following some of the most exhausting runs.

I just went to the gym a few days ago for the first time in about a month (I've been on vacation) and today I could move my arms. My muscles were EXTREMELY tight, and at best I could move each arm around ten inches. Any ideas to combat this? I tried stretching both before and after my workout, but the area that I was working on (forearms/some tris & bis) is tough to stretch. Tips for pre/post workout & recovery would be great.

Did hot yoga today to mix things up. I was sweating like a maniac and was slip sliding by the end of the session. Great workout though. I was feeling tight from a rough hockey game last night. Had some home made baby back ribs for dinner.

Hot yoga is a killer. Good job surfer. I wish it didn't take so much time I would do it twice a week. It's 3 hrs for me with travel to and from
2 mile run
1 hour with trainer
And
12 minutes cutting up the flatest water of the year just before dark on my ski.
Perfect day!

Started my week off with a solid 3k swim. Gonna wake up early for a nice bag room sesh tomorrow. I'm stoked.

Sutler is 12 he just is able to lift.
Only advice I can give is to ease back into it. Obviously you've lost some range in flexibility but it's been so short that as long as you don't jump right back into it full swing, you'll be fine. Stretch every day if you can and it'll come. And my post-workout recovery usually involves something sweet immediately following workout (restore the body's sugar levels), and then a carb and protein heavy meal (I know some people here do 2:1 carbs to protein). I also used to just do protein heavy meal (much lighter on the carbs) - that worked out great as well, but I like throwing carbs in there now.
